Description

Dear Town of Gilbert,

I am writing to you with great concern regarding a specific Industrial Animal Factory Farming near Gilbert, Arizona and have been directed to contact you by the Arizona Department of Agriculture in trying to find a solution to the air quality conditions produced by their toxic waste output. I am seeking air quality testing to provide clear documentation and evidence for the air quality concern of the East Gilbert, Arizona (Highland Corner & Towne Meadows) Residential Communities and surrounding Residential Areas.

These communities are within a couple miles of massive industrial animal breeding factory farms, such as swine and dairy farms. There is extreme disturbance in air quality after 10pm to the morning hours, about 7am or 8am. This, I believe, is a result from the massive industrial farms emptying toxic amounts of ammonia and noxious gases from the hundreds of feet long lagoons of animal waste. The animal feces, dander, chemicals and antibiotics are sprayed onto adjoining lands and carried by wind patterns into these housing communities. (Specifically at night)

I have been here in the Gilbert area visiting family since January First of 2018 and have become well aware of the dangerous air quality conditions and have been experiencing extreme symptoms (burning eyes, nose and throat, nausea, vomiting, lethargy, severe headaches) There are so many families including young children who are being negatively impacted here within these communities. Symptoms include: antibiotic resistant flu, swine flu, bone infections, migraines, respiratory problems, allergies, difficulty breathing, chronic cough and runny nose, burning eyes, nose and throat, high blood pressure, dizziness, lethargy, depression, anxiety and more.

I am seeking advice on how to address this situation to help these communities gain their right to clean air and a safe living environment.

Please, any direction of assistance is greatly appreciated.

Sincerest gratitude for your time,

Sigrid Boyer
