This issues happens also on Pitts st. Also people just do t clear their sidewalks. Plz enforce the clearing ordinances.

Dan, Town Meeting will consider a revision to our bylaws that would prohibit plowing snow onto sidewalks. It is targeted at the kind of uncivilized and unsafe behavior you see on North Main St.

Jeff, we don’t actually have a bylaw (i.e., the town version of an ordinance) that compels property owners to clear their sidewalks. That’s been considered, but never adopted for several reasons.

Thanks Josh for the clarity. As someone who walks to the train everyday the lack of sidewalk clearing creates inconvenience and safety concerns. Specifically one section of sidewalk near a bus stop is not cleared and students have to walk into the street at an intersection to get to the stop.

I hear you. It's atrocious in some cases. To say we can do better is an understatement. Personally, I'd prefer not to put more of this on DPW at their current staffing levels, but encourage greater ownership by residents and property owners. I think the Town is ready for that.

Still happening every storm a year later. Honestly, I don’t mind if they don’t clear the sidewalk, but they shouldn’t be actively creating a barrier across it.

My comment was re sidewalk outside Stone’s and Pizza Plus. But it’s applicable here too.
