A valet service has been blocking residential and public parking with orange cones and signs on Morris Street for months and installed a "valet parking only" sign right into the sidewalk in an area designated as residential parking.

Parking Enforcement is not addressing this commandeering of spaces and the head of Traffic Engineering told Park South residents they were not aware of this issue and did not approve it and it would be addressed. That was weeks ago and the problem continues. The valet drivers refuse to use the parking garages and are taking up street and residential parking all day. A valet staff member even came into SEFCU demanding to know which of their customers' cars were parked alongside SEFCU because they wanted them moved. Who do these people think they are? This is a public street and a residential permit area. Their cones and valet signs are also a driving hazard which has been reported before but not addressed. Albany Medical Center has plenty of garage space and needs to use it. The valet drivers have no right monopolizing necessary public and residential parking. Someone has to stand up to this valet service. Please do your jobs Parking Enforcement and Traffic Engineering or can anyone just put cones and signs in the street and keep people from parking where it's designated they have a right to?

They moved the city's parking sign to the phone pole and put valet parking only on the city's pole. This makes less parking spaces in park south. Knox alley needs to be included in the permit area.

Yes, Albany Med is a big employer, but that does not give them right to have their contractors infrig the rights of the residents of this city who actually pay property taxes - directly or through their rents.

Some residential spaces are also being lost with the road diet on Madison, which is quickly coming to Park South, and even one less space is one too many given the number of residential spaces compared to the number of residents.

So far, the City, Traffic Engineering and Parking are unresponsive to the valet contractors usurping city authority and causing hardships for residents. Hopefully, the Mayor's office will finally address this. Albany Med made public promises to Park South that it would not impact residential parking and that their garages would be used for patients, employees and contractors. Just as they buy up property and let them disintegrate until they can justify tearing them down, some of the corporation's leadership can't be trusted. The city has to stand up and advocate for residents who are investing here.

In the 45 minutes we observed today, the valet attendant (who have said Albany Med contracts with them) parked cars on both sides of Morris and in the CVS parking lot. Never did they use a lot or garage belonging to Albany Medical Center as the Albany Med leadership promised the neighborhood. CVS management is frustrated by the taking over of their clearly labeled customer parking and, at one point, had every car in their lot towed to try to force the valet service to stop doing this. SEFCU is frustrated and residents are angered and inconvenienced. Yet Traffic Engineering, Parking Enforcement and the Mayor's Office remain silent to taxpayer concerns and right to answers about why this is being allowed and by whose authority. Also, is Albany Med paying someone to use residential and public parking and put up cones and signs, including ones that block half of a public street? If so, who and under what authority? Hopefully, the Mayor's Office will respond soon or instruct Traffic Engineering to respond. The silence, so far, is very telling.

Hello? Anybody out there? The Valet Parking only sign, and the valet service are still there. If this was happening in a more affluent area, it would have been stopped immediately. We can't even get the courtesy of a response from an official.

This is a problem. I can rarely find a spot to use the SEFCU because the lots are full all day.
