Please be aware that the officers on the street do not monitor SeeClickFix in their cars. This issue should be reported while it is happening. Please call 715-423-4444 to report this while it is happening so officers may respond. Thank you
It's not like they can respond within seconds, because that's all it takes for the semi trucks to be gone. This isn't really a police enforcement issue, the city needs better signage and to make the toad less semi friendly.
Just called the non emergency dispatch number when I saw yet another semi go by that I could not get a picture of. Unfortunately they were unable to dispatch an officer to the location within a few seconds.
And by the way, I called non emergency dispatch for years to resolve this. I'm spreading my complaints across all city departmemts that cpuld potentially rectify this constant issue.
We are sorry that your experience with this issue has been so poor. Have you called the Police Chief or the Mayor to see if you can get a better response?
I am writing to acknowledge your concerns with the truck traffic on Baker. Thank you for providing us information as we continue to consider how to address the traffic that is in violation. (As you know, some traffic is appropriate due to local deliveries to businesses and organizations) With that said, simply knowing the traffic persists by sending photos doesn’t necessarily aid us in addressing the situation.
Additional patrol activity has been assigned when available. Recently, two contacts have been made by the Police Department and more will continue as they are seen. Lastly, our sign shop will be taking a second look at the signage that was installed to ensure it is visible to truck traffic.
Again, thank you for sharing your concerns. We will continue to work through a review of the recently installed signage and ongoing enforcement.
Yes. The mayor won't return my calls. He is only interested in a one way conversation. I tried pasting his email response, but this app didn't allow me to.
From January 1st, 2017 to March 18th, 2018 there has only been 14 traffic stops on baker street for trucks over 5 tons. I have also discussed with my alderman, Steve Koth, the public works committee in an open meeting and recently have been emailing the public works committee chair, Tom Rayome, to bring the issue back to committee but he has not responded.
Thank you Kpatt593 for doing so much footwork on this. You truthfully are representing many of us who live on Baker and have had the same frustration, but have lacked the time and resources to be so justifiably relentless. I know it seems so futile at times, but know that my family is thankful for your efforts. THANK YOU!
You're welcome! Sadly, this is why our house is for sale. We love our home and have done a lot of work to it, but the city's inaction on this issue has told us that they don't care about the families that live in this area. I really appreciate the feedback! Someone else will need to carry the torch and continue bringing up this when we move.
Idea - I don't know the legalities involved, and personally hate the thought of this - but a single traffic camera monitoring this at the 8th and Baker intersection would pay for itself in 12 hours (and that is not an exaggeration).
