Description

Our little street (Hancock Park) was pretty bad last year and we requested our street to be repaved and instead some of the potholes were filled in, leaving the street in "okay" shape. These past 2 months, Eversource showed up on Hancock Park. They totally destroyed our street and sidewalks. Now Hancock Park has been reduced to gravel and several of our brick sidewalks just have the bricks stacked up and replaced with asphalt. It doesn't appear Eversource is ever going to fix the street or the sidewalks or put things back to the way they were (they seem to be "done" with their work and are just gone). Please come and put our sidewalks and street back in to a usable condition. Right now it looks like a construction site.

Many kids like to play on our street, learning to ride their bikes, playing a pick up soccer game, racing on their scooters. But in the current condition that won't be safe anymore

The short street is little better than a gravel country road now—covered with mud when it rains. I understand from Eversource folks that Hancock STREET is to be re-paved soon. Please include Hancock PARK in those paving operations. The utility work caused more than the usual road damage because it turned out that the short street has a very thin asphalt layer which crumbled badly when Eversource attempted to make trenches. Thank you!

You could also try tweeting the issue to Eversource to encourage them to come back to fix it.

While you're at it, could you please encourage Eversource to come back and dig up Broadway (or at least the Broadway sidewalk) between Lee Street and the City Hall Annex. The underground electric failed several years ago and Eversource promised to come back and restore the service, but they never did. My electric service is now via a line rigged from the back of the coffee shop next door, screwed into a live tree in my yard, and draped over a branch of that tree to get to the pole in my back yard. I will gladly welcome Eversource to dig a trench in front of my house and alongside my house to replace their failed underground feed. Then they can come back and patch both Hancock Park and Broadway.

We have pretty low standards on Hancock Park but the current state of the street is pretty bad. After eversource’s gas line contractors, the pavement didn’t hold up and there is a lot of dirt and gravel left on top. The inches of dust are not fun on a windy day, for those of us outside spending time with neighbors. The kids are learning to ride dirt-bike style on the gravel but still I vote for new paving. Thanks Works staff!

I agree, Hancock Park is in really rough shape. It was not in great shape with potholes and large puddles before the eversource work. Now the digging and heavy machinery has made maters even worse. Any chance we can get the road swept if it won't be replaced in the next couple weeks?

The condition of the street is no longer mearly an inconvenience, but rather a safety hazard. The recent work appears to have compromised the integrity of the remaining asphalt causing me to not only fear for the safety of our residents, but city workers as well. Please have the road evaluated as soon as possible.

-Eversource Gas will return within the next couple weeks to restore SW back to existing (Concrete/Brick) and will mill and overlay trench Late spring.
