SR 3364 Country Trail leading to Leesville Schools dangerous, obstacles on both sides of road, the road is barely wide enough for two vehicles to pass. No painted lines on road middle of side. Not to mention large volume of traffic. I have seen people with disabilities, wheel chairs, canes and crutches etc. walking on this road.

It leads to a large school complex no sidewalks.... this is a disaster waiting to happen!

Thank you for your request; however, the State of North Carolina shows Country Trail to be primarily owned and maintained by the City of Raleigh. Our records indicate SR 3364 runs from SR 1835 eastward to easternmost SR 3365 (Troutman Drive), approximately 0.28 mile. Given this situation we do not generally place markings on roads less than 0.5 mile in length and we do not generally place markings within subdivisions. At this time we do not recommend placement of markings on the 0.28 mile section of SR 3364 (Country Trail) within this subdivision. Again, the majority of these subdivision roads are owned and maintained by the City of Raleigh and we recommend contacting the City's Public Works Department at (919)996-3030.

Ron, City states it is a state road, congressmen are reluctant to comment. This road carries major Leesville Road school bus traffic daily. Road in very narrow for bus and other vehicles when meeting each other. not to mention school children walking to and from school..

Novel idea, maybe some one from state and city meet at same time at road around 7;30 am or 2;30pm to actually see condition.

I would like to add that there have been several accidents at Country Trail and Pinecrest. It is a dangerous intersection with school aged drivers, children and no stop light.

Road has been repaved recently, if the city nor the state take responsibility for the road I wonder who paid for the repaving.One might think this is one of those situations where mutiple accidents must occur before anyone will take notice.

Numerous children walk SR3365 Country Trail every day having to dodge traffic and maneuver around mail boxes, broken pavement etc.just to stay safe.
Being children/teens some have head phones on and some just don't move enough to be comfortable for most drivers to continue with out slowing down or stopping.

I hesitate to ask but i guess a sidewalk would be out of the question from the city?

Not sure who built the new section of Westgate road but if you haven not take a ride on it. It was completed in a reasonable amount of time and the road is smooth.

Still no change made to Pincrest Country trail intersection. This intersection is extremely dangerous. Numerous accidents have occurred. A lowered speed limit and/or a traffic signal is needed at this location.

I'm the contributor that wrote the "children waiting to die" post for exactly the reasons you've outlined here. This has obviously been ignored for almost a decade at this point. The section of road you're talking about is owned by the county and is left out of the updates performed on the rest of Country Trail under the "Safe Routes to Schools" program that is in the process of wasting $600k+ on other "updates" like paving the road and putting in bike lanes on a super wide road with sidewalks on either side.

My 11 yo son and a group of about 20 middle school students were allowed to cross this intersection yesterday after their bus broke down. The driver gave them the option of walking home, no one from the school came out (the bus broke down at the school) to administer, and my son couldn't get a hold of me or his mother. So, they walked up the narrow lane of Country Trail on the street because there is no sidewalk, and crossed the Pinecrest intersection independently. I found out about it when he walked in the door. Luckily, he walked in the door.

So, we're now into the 2021-2022 school year. Last week I passed through the intersection with Pinecrest and saw FOUR kids attempting to cross it. As I drove down Country Trail towards the schools I saw another FIVE kids heading towards the intersection traversing a very narrow, heavily trafficked portion of Country Trail. So glad they put those bike lane markers down away from this portion.

Been an issue for years ... still an issue. Gov't at its best people. I guess it'll get fixed when a kid gets killed crossing Pincrest or run over on Country Trail.

Stop lights at intersection does help.
