Description

This pothole/sinkhole has reemerged three times now in the same spot. Someone from the city or a contractor comes out and fills it in, does a bad job, it sinks again within a few months. Please take care of once and for all. It's dangerous for the cars and bikes that frequent this road. This street is in desperate need of repair. Could work with Kaiser for funding if necessary - uneven pavement throughout and this sinkhole over and over.

Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

Updated with pictures - what kind of liability does the city have if this crater causes an accident? It's massive and growing weekly.

Have Kaiser pay for it. Its their trucks and patients that increase traffic and are causing these repairs to be needed at an accelerated pace.

This is awful. I understand the budget is non-existent, but the city is required to perform public safety fixes like this. It's seeclickFIX, right? I've seen, I keep clicking, and no fix. Just a deeper hole that continues to grow.

Thanks for the report. Due to the danger to cyclists, this issue is being submitted to Oakland as a "TOP 10" for immediate attention under an agreement with the Bike East Bay Hazard Elimination program.
