You need to do something out the corridor and the numerous accidents on it. Why are there not yellow flashing lights all the way down that show the light is turning from green to red, in West Jordan this makes a Huge difference. Why are there not green turn arrows on every direction of this street! This has become so deadly, what does it take for you to look at how this road is designed and fix it. YES drivers are a huge problem and I have emailed my city asking why they do not have a bigger police presence at rush hour but why did you choose to design a road that is very confusing to some and not take ALL precautions to ensure it was done right! I was hit and my car totaled on this road at 11800 and the Corridor, why do you not have cameras there so people cannot lie and cause more headache and issues! How many people have to die before money isn't the issue but people are?

I apologize for not responding sooner and want to share information I have obtained from one of our Traffic Engineers. Safety is important to UDOT and one of our strategic goals is to have zero crashes, injuries and fatalities on Utah's roads. For this reason we continually work to improve safety on all of our highways. Specifically for Mountain View Corridor we have implemented the following improvements and have plans to implement many more.
As you mentioned advanced warning signals have been placed to help reduce red light running and front to rear crashes. We are continually evaluating all locations on MVC that do not currently have them to determine if they meet the established warrant criteria.
Reflective signal head back-plates. This yellow border around the signals makes it easier for drivers to see the signal heads in an effort to reduce red light running and other crashes.
Programmable signal heads. These make the green light visible only from close up to eliminate confusion for drivers traveling east/west through MVC. These signal heads make it so motorists don't drive through a near side intersection when their light is actually red and the far side intersection light is green. Signal timing has been optimized as much as possible to increase efficiency and flow of traffic while allowing as much time as possible for yellow and red light time cycles to clear the intersection before the next direction of traffic starts.
Protected/permissive left turn signals. These are left turn signal heads that are blinking yellow lights the majority of the time with fully protected green arrows during peak times. These still allow for left turns during off-peak hours but also provide fully protected left turns during peak hours in order to prevent left turn crashes.
Blinking borders have been installed on wrong way and t-intersection signs near Porter Rockwell Blvd. the help reduce wrong way drivers and to notify drivers of the upcoming intersection and to slow down.
We also have worked to make the road as efficient as possible. This may not seem like a safety improvement but it helps by keeping drivers from becoming impatient and driving aggressively. This includes things like signal detection and dual left turn lanes.
I also appreciate you mentioning drivers. As you know, it doesn't matter how many safety measures are implemented drivers are a major factor in the safety of our roads. Many of us are all guilty at times of not taking the responsibility of driving as serious as we need to. Thank you for reaching out to us and please be assured that at UDOT we truly believe the loss of one life is too many. If I can provide any further information or answer any questions please let me know.
