I reported the same thing on 3500 S and 5600 W., their response was that they don't care and it's working as intended, scrap to those of us going East/West or turning onto 5600, they don't care.

Thank you for contacting UDOT. This signal runs different sets of coordinated timing plans throughout the day. These plans prioritize flow along the major corridor to minimize the number of stops for the higher volume of vehicles. This causes some delay for side street traffic. We have evaluated this intersection and found it to be operating as intended. We do care about East/West traffic. However, when considering vehicle emissions and overall delay it just makes sense to have the few wait for the many, instead of the other way around. In the PM the southbound through volumes reach 1700 vehicles per hour, northbound through 1000, and the westbound left only 250. For signal coordination to work all the signals must have the same cycle length. So, in order to give one movement more time it must be taken from another. We cannot take time from the N/S movements in the PM peak with out causing significant issues. If you feel there is still an issue please contact us directly at 801-887-3702.
