These deep divets in the road have already been a trip hazard to residents riding bikes and walking in the road. The damage was done by construction dumpsters left in the street and are at a corner of the street where there is no sidewalk so pedestrians must use the road to pass.
As a follow up to this complaint, today we had a little girl hit one of the divots on her scooter. She fell and broke her arm and now must have surgery. I can provide you with more information if needed. I sincerely hope the powers that be will reconsider that this is a safety hazard and not just a cosmetic flaw in the road
These divots are fairly deep and commonly trip up kids on skates and scooters in the neighborhood. It was only a matter of time before someone broke something.
I'm furious that this has not been taken care of yet. My daughter's 9 year old overnight guest hit one of these divots this morning with a scooter and it threw her off. She has fractured the growth plate in her right humerus and this particular break requires surgery and pins and screws to repair the damage. This is ridiculous. What is it going to take to get someone out here? A brain injury? I imagine personal injury attorneys can have a field day with the fact that you had prior knowledge of the defect in the road per the previous complaints and photos on this page - as well as your documented response of "cosmetic damage," and you failed to repair said dangerous condition and failed to show due care. This street is full of kids on a regular basis and unless these holes are repaired, this injury will not be the last one. I would hope that you will seriously reconsider your choice to ignore a major safety issue on our street. How many more kids need a trip to the ER, orthopedic surgery, and the painful inconvenience of pins and screws sticking out of their flesh? Not to mention the threat of permanent damages at the young age of 9 years old, as a result of the fracture of a growth plate.
Lesley: I recommend you print this page out right now, and sign and date every page of the printout. Make several originals; store them in different places.
