Yesterday, after 0.2 inches of rain in the morning there was already a large amount of water blocking the pedestrian crosswalk. Of course once it poured later in the day it got much worse. Photo is from 11:45am yesterday.

Does anyone know which department or official is responsible for addressing this?

Hi Mchaoulideer - this is Steve Winter, the alder for ward 21. I drove by here yesterday and noticed this as well. I will reach out to engineering - they should be responsible for resolving this.

Hi Steve, thanks very much! Is there a way for residents to report locations with poor drainage directly to engineering (on Seeclickfix or otherwise)? There are others I'd like to report (and I'm sure other people would know of plenty more) but I don't want to make you relay all that. Cheers, Max.

Puddles in the street after it rains? When I saw this reported issue, I was sure it was intended to be a joke, but apparently it is not. If I remember correctly, I learned when I was about 4 years old not to stand or walk near puddles that cars would be driving through.

I noticed the title of this issue, "Non-functional drainage". I went to the location and discovered there is no storm drain on the east side of Whitney Avenue at the location in the picture above. There is one storm drain approximately 150 feet north of the picture and another one approximately 250 feet south of the picture, but that doesn't matter because the location of the crosswalk in the picture is in a dip in the road. Water won't go where gravity won't take it.

I really hope nobody outside of Connecticut sees this ticket. It fits the stereotype a lot of people have about us. I can hear my friends from other parts of the world laughing at me now. "Oh, Tommy, watch out for the rain puddles while going on your Yale pheasant hunting excursion and please don't forget to have your afternoon tea!"

Come on folks, grow a pair and find something that is actually worthy of attention.

The photograph shows a handicap ramp. Their dimensions and locations are prescribed by the Americans with Disabilities act to facilitate wheelchair usage. Unfortunately, they are frequently incompatible with good drainage, and this is such a location.
