Transportation Department staff will conduct 24-hour speed studies and report the results and our recommendations here when completed.

Transportation Department staff have completed 24-hour vehicle speed studies along 34th Avenue N between 4th and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Streets, in this a 30 MPH speed zone. The average operating speed was as high as 41 MPH, with 519 motorists of 2,883 or 18% exceeded the speed limit by 10 MPH or more. These are the vehicles that the Police consider "enforceable" and we have therefore requested that the Police monitor and provide enforcement of the speed limit. We have also requested that the deploy their Speed Awareness Monitor to educate motorists.
