As neighbors (across the park) we often drive Mr & Mrs Fecteau to their doctor’s appointments. Since neither of them are physically able to walk more than a few steps, we have to pull IN THEIR DRIVEWAY (alley access only) and right up to the ramp at their back door in order to safely load them into the vehicle. They are disabled citizens who, for their safety and well being, must have this continued access.

This issue was previously investigated by Codes and it was determined that per the Zoning Department the fence is on private property and therefore in compliance. For more information please contact Zoning directly at 727-893-7472.

I have contacted 8 On Your Side and I will continue on this mission with anyone and everyone! This way of doing business will also have a major impact on the property values on this block with driveways you can't get to, as well as the expense of having to put in a driveway on the main road. Fossil Park maintenance has let the pepper trees and other bushes grow out of control and is closing out the view from these homes as well! St Pete does nothing about that either. The way you treat the long time property owners that are also elderly people in St Pete is a disgrace. Shame on you.

I find it hard to believe you do not need a permit to put a fence in and also if the access road has been there for over 30 years that my parents have lived at their house how can you all of a sudden just block it off when they've been using it daily for over 30 years

I am on the neighborhood association board. This problem comes up all the time. I am sorry the one neighbor was so thoughtless to put up a fence blocking one end of the alley. It has been an access alley for over 50 years. The city has maintained it off and on over all those years. Yes, it is private property. One time the city would say they don't fix that alley and then soon the city would come down and scrape it. This went on for the 36 years I have lived here.
About 3 years ago the city came down the alley between 7th street and 5th street and dug down several inches and brought in and spread broken asphalt. Then admitted they made a mistake. I say the city should do the same on the other end. We maintain the city tree-line area wouldn't you think they could do the alley one time.
