It is pretty overpowering, especially in summer. Gets worse again every spring. I don’t know why Roseville closes issues before resolving them, it’s happened to me as well. Hopefully something can be done about it, and the cars of people loitering and smoking it in their cars in their lot as well.

It's probably a dispensary. They are popping up everywhere and people think because they have a medical marijuana card that it's leagl for them to smoke where they want whenever they want.

This matter has been assigned to the appropriate City Departments. Unfortunately there may be limitations to what can be enforced in the residential units at this location if they are meeting state guidelines set forth by statute, however we will look into the matter further.

Are you trying to tell me that you are investigating the apartment above the business where the odor is emanating? The odor is coming from the business! When their door is open to the street - it wafts directly out of it. It's been that way since they moved in. Overnight the odor fills my business and reeks some days when I open in the morning.

We are looking at both locations

The past 2 days have been extremely warm, and they have their door open out front. That smell is definitely coming from that location - but they are trying to mask it now with some sweet smelling stuff.

They won’t do anything about it. They’re just going to bide their time and hope it gets legalized in November so they don’t have to actually make an effort to put a stop to it.

I don't care whether it's legal or not! Me and my customer's should not have to suffer with the odors that drift into my place of business regularly. It has such a rank odor - more like skunk mixed with something else!

I just passed their door as I was taking out some trash. The smell is billowing out of their front door along with something that they are apparently trying to cover up the smell with. It doesn't work. You can tell the two distinctly different odors. Fortunately the high wind is carrying it away today. Normally, we'd be choking on it.

The weather is getting warmer and so are the odors. All they city would have to do is drive by - when they see the "people" loitering around the front door - stop on in and enjoy the fresh stench this place continues to give off. But, now they have some kind of new odor trying to mask the new odor. It doesn't work - you can smell both odors simultaneously.

And as the weather continues to get warmer - the problem becomes even worse as they keep their door open and the smell drifts freely!!!

Nothing happening yet! The odors continue to plague us. It seems that the rights of one are allowed to violate the rights of others. This is most disappointing. I'm just plain sick and tired of the whole issue. I've owned this business for over 31 years - and this city, since I've been here, has not been supportive of their resident businesses. I don't know why I thought anything would ever change.

That's great! I can determine it - whenever the building is occupied - the smell overwhelms the strip. When the building is unoccupied - no smell! And, there never was a smell before this latest tenant moved in. Something is going on when the building is occupied causing the odor. This is not rocket science or a matter of paranormal activity. Either something is being burned - or there's dead stuff in there building!

The guy who is looking at buying this building that houses these three businesses just came in here and asked what was up with the strong marijuana smell coming from that business!!!

Nothing has changed! The stink remains! No one in this city cares. It appears they are nose blind. Unfortunately typical as this city is so business unfriendly!

Well the holidays seem to have brought out the smokers. The past few days have been the worst yet. It continues to boggle my mind how no one can seem to do anything about this.

Cops were waiting for it to be legalized so now they have a reason to do nothing about it. It’s a shame.

The guys that put in the outdoor security cameras witnessed the guy who runs the place selling pot to someone. They were even offered some. Why can't something be done about this? The smell continues, the activity continues. Even though it was made legal - the changes don't take effect until next year and sales at this point is still a crime! But, my beef is still the original problem - the damn smell!!! If the smell were gone - I wouldn't even care about anything else! If the city chooses to ignore illegal activity - that's not really my concern.

While I appreciate that the matter has been assigned to the Roseville Police Department, I'd like the case to remain open as I have been told this before and nothing ever happened. My customers still complain - and so do I.

If you don't mind - I've been told this many times before and would like to keep this case open until I'm certain that it has been resolved. We've been suffering with this problem for a couple of years now and there has been no resolution.

I have rented a 2 family home in Roseville for 25 years. For 7 years I put was gagged by the STENCH of Weed coming through my vents, the floors and walls. Even all the way from the 2nd floor to my basement. I was told "There is Nothing I could do" BECAUSE THE addict upstairs HAD A CARD!!!! Anyone can go get a card by walking in the rip off "business" on Gratiot that sells everyone's phone numbers and information btw~ Wanna talk about being Triggered with Anger every time I had to smell that disgusting smell for 7 years.

The very first time was a month after she moved in and we had just closed up the house for the winter. My daughter was in my bedroom breastfeeding my new granddaughter and when I walked into the room the STENCH hit me in the FACE!!! I am thanking GOD today that she is FINALLY gone and from now on there is Supposed to be NO SMOKING WHATSOEVER in the house with any new tenants, we will see!

My advice to everyone...Get it put in your Lease that if there is ANY Problem with Pot Stench you can break your lease at any time because it is EVERYWHERE. 2 Family Houses, Townhouses and Apartments (also through the walls, floors and vent systems). ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN!!!

It also makes me GAG when I go shopping and walk by users or even in an area they were recently in down a store aisle. That smell makes me want to throw up!!! It's a given that you Will be Smelling it at Walmart -

Well, it is legal to smoke in homes but not in businesses. I don't really care who does what - but I want that horrible smell gone!!! Their rights are impeding my rights! That is totally wrong!

Nobody has ever lifted a finger to help out with this issue. I'm so disappointed in the city that I live in and own a business in. We have no recourse when we have issues. This site certainly is worthless.

We are only able to enforce activities up to legal and statutory limitations. Recent marijuana statutes have also greatly limited local control mechanisms.

The City has provided notifications to the tenant/owner of the previous complaints and this matter has also been reviewed by the Police Department

This isn't a marijuana issue - it's a noxious odor issue!!! No one has ever checked with me about what's going on - when I've posted that the problem was particularly bad or I'm getting complaints from my customers and even the UPS guy. I could care less what they do there - I just want the odor gone!!!

I feel for you Buddy, believe me, I get it. I tried to get a lawyer several years ago and no one would touch it but now they might. On the news a few years ago was a woman in a condo that sued someone a neighbor...I don't know the outcome tho~

I agree, it's not right and All people should have rights...not just the persons who do drugs (smoke pot). Maybe you could also sue the City like I am thinking about doing for their roll in the July 6th flood that they are hiding.

It's been 541 days now and no relief or indication that anyone cares. I'm really ashamed of the city that I live and work in for their ineptness.

I understand your frustration. You are not the only one dealing with this issue in our city. Individuals are using in private residencies and businesses. We have sent officers to this specific address and will continue to send them. If you would please call dispatch at 586-777-6700 immediately when the odor is bothering you and especially if you notice someone about to leave who is clearly under the influence. It is still illegal to drive under the influence of marijuana. This platform is very valuable for addressing certain situations but not for situations that need a quicker response. So again, please call dispatch anytime this is an issue.

No one is closing this issue until it is resolved. The odor is continuous - and no one is paying attention. All you have to do is walk passed the door and you will smell it. It lingers and never really goes away. At its peak - it drifts into the adjacent buildings.

Have you tried doing what they told you to do and calling the cops right away? Because there’s not really anything they can do otherwise. They can’t go kick someone’s door in and do some big takedown because they smoked something legal in their own apartment/home.

You don't understand. The smell is always there - it never goes away! And, this is a business - not a home. You can walk by at any time of day or night and you can smell it quite well. I don't care what the smell comes from. It may not even be marijuana - I don't care - I've been dealing with the putrid smell for too long and it is impeding my rights to not have to deal with the smell!

I DO understand. And it’s not coming from the health club. It’s coming from the apartment above it. They’re not smoking inside that health club. The cops can’t do anything about what people do in private residences. Or even in that private health club. If it’s that awful, then take them to court over it. What do you expect the city to do? If it’s not weed and is something else, call the EPA so they can do air quality tests. Otherwise, call cops when it’s at its worst or take those making the smell to court on your own dime. It’s been over a year you’ve tried to keep this issue open here, you’ve been told what to do, and it’s honestly kinda ridiculous seeing you trying to get blood from a stone. This is a place more for reporting potholes. You wanna report potHEADS, call the cops.
