While walking on Fourth Avenue a construction worker urged me to keep moving along after I stopped to point out something to my son. I looked up and a large object was being transported by a crane a few stories above us. I appreciate that the construction worker was aware of the danger, but I really feel like the sidewalk should have been closed if there was concern of falling objects.

I called the police non-emergency line and they said they couldn't do anything about it. I don't understand why. This is a public safety issue.
