Deskripsyon

A stop light or reduced speed limit is needed on Leesville Road at/near Pinecrest Point Shopping Center--between the shopping center and Westgate Road. There are many accidents or near accidents as people exceed the 45 minute speed limit through this area, which has a lot of businesses (where cars stop to turn.) It is also very difficult to make a left turn from Fairbanks onto Leesville due to heavy traffic. Either a light or a reduced speed limit could address this issue. Thank you.

The City of Raleigh's Public Works Department is investigating this issue and we will convey their response as soon as it is available.

I agree that this area is unsafe. I have to slam on my breaks often to keep from hitting people turning out in front of me. Making Leesville 4 lanes, or at least adding a turn lane the whole way would improve traffic flow greatly. Simply reducing the speed limit here will not fix the problem.

A lot of the same people speeding through here don't realize the 35 mph year-round school zone speed and how far the zone goes.

This problem seems to be getting worse. I've almost t-boned 3 vehicles in the past few months because they thought they could make it out before I came through the intersection and this was after I had slowed down while approaching the intersection.

It has been nearly 3 years since this issue was acknowledged by the Public Works Department. We really need a light here. This whole stretch of Leesville Road is so dangerous with no turn lanes to accommodate the multiple business and residential driveways. A light at Fairbanks would not only make that intersection safer, but it would create breaks in the traffic flow on Leesville for drivers to get in and out of GymCarolina, Kindercare, etc.

City of Raleigh said they would post an update following investigation by Public Works. Requesting the City ask Public Works for an update on what they've done to address this since 7/6/2010. Just curious to know if there is an open traffic study or something to indicate progress since the initial issue was reported?
