The City sent out Robert Sherrod from vector control. He was just out last week. Super nice and knowledgeable guy. He put out three bait stations last year and has refilled them at least 3 time.
He said each refilled bait station would kill a couple hundred rats. The raccoons pulled some of the bait out so it wasn’t all eaten by rats but we did kill a few hundred at least. He said it usually only takes one bait station to kill a colony.
I turned my security cameras on the bait stations so we could figure out where they were coming from which was from the cut down branches and overgrowth.
Last week when he came by the bait stations still had most of the bait in them with mold so they hadn’t been touched in a few months. He removed the bait stations bc they would attract new rats.
I sealed the house and sprayed the attic with bac-a-zap and put in new insulation. No rats in the attic since. Bait is still on the traps.
The only problem is the owls quit coming by every night to hunt.
Thanks Mr. Sherrod, the city of memphis, and the unfortunate neighbors who owned the property for dealing with this.

The city did a great job. No more rats in the bait stations. Sealed the house, sprayed the attic with bac-a-zap and new insulation. No more rats in several months. Security cameras and bait stations confirmed the lack of rats. Vector control employee did a great job. Very thorough and concerned.
Only problem is the owls are not happy about the lack of food and have relocated.
Good job memphis. I’ll look at the owls at the zoo.
