Please enforce the resident parking sticker requirements. The spaces in front of my house are routinely taken by non-residents. I counted on Saturday, and 8 out of 10 car did not have stickers or visitor passes.

Resident Sticker Parking areas are adopted through City Council Ordinance. The parking designation is typically requested by residents through your Ward Councilor. The process is as follows:
1) Residents request Resident Sticker Parking through Ward Councilor. (Residents should obtain signatures from neighbors in support of the designation.)
2) Ward Councilor sends the Resident Sticker Ordinance request to the Traffic and Parking Commission for review.
3) Traffic and Parking Commission reviews the request, with support from the Traffic and Parking Department and Salem Police Department, and makes recommendation to the City Council.
4) City Council votes on the Ordinance. Approval requires 2 passages.
The entire process - for streets approved - typically takes 4-6 weeks, depending on the timing of the request.
