I am writing this e mail seeking resolution of a potentially dangerous issue that has been going on for “Two Years”.

Namely the traffic light sequence at Townsend Avenue/ Main Street and Forbes Ave.

There are several issues that can be resolved with simple adjustments:

1- The timing for green on Main compared to Townsend is way too long (biased on Main). Most of the time the traffic backs up Townsend for several blocks, especially during the summer months, causing folks to become frustrated and trying to turn-around on Townsend or drive through the Shell station on the corner which causes a potential dangerous situation.

2- Driving up Townsend from Forbes Avenue there is a green light sequence which is literally 3-4 seconds long, again making drivers frustrated and attempting to drive through the intersection at the end of a very short green light. ( Don’t the people who time the lights see this. ????).

3- Also, this same light initiates a 17 second all points red even though there is no one at the cross-walk
which add further frustration to the drivers especially if the next green sequence as noted in 2 is for 3-4 seconds.

4- When coming down Townsend to turn left on Main the light is green both ways “then” adds a green left hand arrow which causing disruption in the traffic flow. It should sequence left arrow green “before” it goes all green both ways. The left arrow sequence from Forbes to Townsend is correct.

5- When going north on Townsend the light at Forbes is red but the light at Main is green. The traffic moves up but gets stuck at the intersection (very dangerous) because the traffic is backed up at the red light at Forbes. The light at Forbes should turn green for a period of time before the light at Townsend turns green to allow cars to flow through and not block the intersection.

I have been discussing this issue with Al Paolillo ( State Representative) for over two years. He has advised that he has contacted the head of Traffic multiple times with no corrections. Why ??

Can someone with authority and knowledge to fix this issue please engage and execute a resolution in a timely manner.

Thank you.
