Description
When driving on Highway 98 East to West, going westbound, at Franklin Street and at the intersection of 98 and Main Street and Alternate 1, the traffic is severely backed up in the mornings. This is a bypass and the traffic lights are set up as if these are in town secondary roads. When turning onto the side roads there is no traffic on side roads because the traffic signals Stay Green for a long time as opposed to the signal for Highway 98 bypass. This is irregular for this type of highway. Please fix the situation.
It took me 11 minutes to turn onto alt. 1 from hwy 98 (@ Lidl). This truly is ridiculous and dangerous. This is a 55 mile bypass. The lights are set up as if you're in a 25 mile zone. Very dangerous as speeds are high then suddenly cut off short in short intervals.

I'm gonna have to give this a "second"...
I have started timing my commute to determine if the bypass is faster or going through town is faster. I've determined that the bypass is slower than going through town on school days.
Every weekday morning, my commute goes as follows: Oak Grove Church Rd to Traditions Grande. If it's a school day, take Wait Ave. If it is not a school day, take 98BYP.
But I have noted that problem really started when they eliminated the "Left turn at will" option to turn left onto S. Main St. about a year and a half ago. Now left turning traffic must stop until given a green arrow, thus backing up 98BYP.
Then they re-timed the light to where not as much traffic can get through.
Then the traffic light was added at S. Franklin St. and 98BYP to let the minivan cattle drive out of there. Which as a consequence, adds more backups to 98BYP.
Either way, this is why I affectionately refer to "98 Bypass" as "98 (used to be a...) Bypass"
The solution seems simple to me.
- Re-time the 98BYP @ S. Main light.
- Give back the option to "Turn left at will" from 98BYP onto S. Main. (Flashing yellow arrow light)
- Eliminate the Left turn option when going from S. Franklin onto 98BYP.
But that's just my vent about 98 (used to be a...) Bypass.
