What make you think that drivers will stop at a "stop" sign when they run red lights?

No system is perfect. However, most folks at least do a rolling stop at stop signs. Yellow lights, however, tend to be taken as a signal to speed up rather than slow down, resulting in people running red lights - they don't want to have to wait a full light cycle to get through the intersection. At this particular intersection, a 4-way stop would do a better job of keeping traffic moving while enhancing safety. It was a 4-way stop for about 18 months with minimal issues and was just changed back to a light 2 weeks ago for reasons the city has yet to explain.

I liked the stop signs.
