Thank you for reporting! A Code Enforcement Officer has now been assigned to inspect the possible violation(s). You may visit eTRAKiT, our online tracking system, to view current case information for the Code Violations online at http://web.ci.vallejo.ca.us/eTRAKiT3/ (please allow several business days for the information to upload). SeeClickFix is one of the many tools available to the citizens of Vallejo to report non-emergency issues. We “close” an issue in SeeClickFix once we've acknowledged the complaint; however, this issue is not "Closed" per se; it will remain an "Open" case with us until it is corrected. If there is anything else we can assist you with, please let us know. Thank you for using SeeClickFix!

Why aren't these issues left open until they are actually fixed?

Because having too many issues open would make it apparent that few are actually resolved. A map full of pins showing the hot spots around town look bad. They could "acknowledge" the issue once it has been assigned and then "close" it once it's resolved, but this is not how Vallejo City Management does things....

My understanding is that Code Enforcement tracks enforcement through its own system, and not on this website. So, issues handled specifically by Code Enforcement that are reported via seeclickfix, such as property maintenance, are communicated to Code Enforcement, then marked as closed on this website, since it is outside of CE's internal tracking system. You can click the eTRACKiT link above to view the status, and you will see that they do indeed follow-up. It would be more helpful if this website had a option to mark items as "transferred" instead of closed, as it can give a false impression of the true status.

Yes, I am aware of how the Code Enforcement division and eTRAKiT are used by Code Enforcement. Many folks really don't like the way it is handled. Have you ever tried to find an eTRAKiT case without the case number? Many addressees have up to 30 violation entries and no way to filter by date, you have to open each case. And some are still open after a full year of warning letters etc. Very little to no information is shown, just the starting date, follow up date and how many letters have been sent to the address. Take a look at how Oakland uses SCF. They clearly state the current status and follow up then close it properly on SCF when resolved.
