Yes, one coming from Railroad Place down Federal Street could go out of their way in two directions to cross at the light you referenced (which is actually 350 feet away). But what's wrong with having a painted crosswalk at the intersection so that one might walk straight ahead? I'm just asking for a safe place to cross the street, not a stop sign or a traffic light.

In order to add a crosswalk at this location, you are more than willing to eliminate at least one, of what appear to be, well used parking spots in the downtown area.

Are you sure we're talking about the same intersection? I've never seen a car parked there, nor was I aware that there were legal parking spaces there. Anyone using the shopping center would park in the parking lot.

I sincerely doubt that eliminating 2 streetside parking spaces would have any impact whatsoever. If these people are that determined to park there, they can very easily go around the corner and park in the parking lot.

Pedestrians, however, have no other option for crossing the street. Vehicles travel down this stretch of road much faster than the posted speed limit, and have absolute disregard for pedestrians crossing the street. I've crossed here before and had a car pass me so close, and so fast, that I felt the wind from it.

I will take pictures of the area in question tomorrow, as well as make a short video if the opportunity arises.

A cross walk would be nice here. It is difficult to cross at this location with the speed of traffic as well as people turning into and out of the plaza.

Hopefully they will put in a crosswalk once the new hotel is completed.
