Description

See previous issue # 3748628 and codes case # 18-00005807 reported in Oct 2017 this address.
Mangrove removal from preservation area has created a resulting large "picture window" in the mangrove fringe which is creating "light pollution" into the the neighboring properties.
The owner has installed high-intensity "dusk to dawn" lighting which is un-shielded and creates glare and light pollution which a) negatively impacts the quality of life for neighbors - as the light shines directly into the bedroom windows b) environmental impact to the habit and nesting of shore birds, turtles and other wildlife which live in the preserve c) hazards to navigation in the public waterway of Placido Bayou.
This impact is a direct result of the significant removal of native vegetation in the protected area and is inconsistent with the lighting of adjacent properties on Darlington Oak Cir NE which abut the same preservation area.
Please seek mitigation from the home owner to reduce impact by a) shielding the lighting to prevent glare onto the waterway and adjacent properties, b) installing motion detectors or other on demand systems to reduce the "dusk to dawn" operaiton
c) other "good neighbor" action and respect for others to minimize the negative impacts to the quality of life of others who would prefer not to have the lighting shining in their bedroom windows
