  you ought to see E 36st. Our street hasn't been replaced in over 30 years....Think the garbage trucks need to cut down on going up and down a street and collect garbage from one side. It would cut the wear and tear in half...

  Hi Kevin,

  The same thing happened on my street. I called the head of the Sewer Department and within 24 hours, the sewer contractor came out and dug it up, properly filled it, and tamped it to 125 lbs per square foot. The City of Oakland, Inspection Services is SUPPOSED to inspect for proper compaction. They are often "out to lunch". Just not to be trusted at all.

  I have also heard that the contractor has a month or so to replace the temporary patch.

  By then, the house is sold, and the pressure is off.

  Of course, the inspectors should be on top of the patch replacement, but they obviously aren't.

  This "pit" in the street in my neighborhood was there for 1 and one-half years. Slovenly work and a lack of accountability always produces failure.

  This problem was referred to Fred Loeser of the Engineering Design & Right of Way Department.

  Fred's number is 238-6348. I have called his supervisor.

  His supervisor is Kevin Kashi 238-7116.

  According to the city, this issue was closed because it was a temporary issue, and over 30 days old, even though the issue was about a week old.

  Kevin Kashi says he has no idea how to look up how to look up issues.

  And he says that his department just closed a bunch of tickets because they were aged or nuisance tickets.

  Even though this ticket was a week old.

  This says that the this ticket is being combined with itself because it is a duplicate.

  Of course, when a ticket is closed and reopened, there is a new service request number, is that now considered a duplicate?

  Did someone close this ticket on a Sunday?

  Sounds like another case of Oakland's city government's neverending dysfunction, corruption, and absolute lack of any accountability whatsoever. Sounds like we may need some legal action to set them straight soon

  Public works gave me an explanation.

  SeeClickFix does not work that well with Oakland issue tracking.

  SeeClickFix assigns a new issue number when an issue is reopened.

  Oakland wants to keep the same issue number, which is a better solution.

  Assigning a new number each time makes it look like the city is fixing potholes each time an issue is closed and reopened.

  Keeping the same number only gives credit for one closure.

  This area has a patch. It looks like a quickie city of Oakland patch.

  This image show it is an imperfect patch.

  I'm still waiting for the sewer lateral contractor to do a permanent patch.
