Several black metal litter containers have disappeared one-by-one from the shoreline path at Lake Merritt recently. From Lakeshore Ave around to the Lake Chalet. The gardeners say they have been stolen, presumably for scrap metal. Please secure the remaining containers (perhaps with welds in addition to the existing bolts), and let nearby recyclers like Lakeside Metals know to be on the lookout for them. They cost the City $1,500 each, and probably net the thief $10 for scrap. The temporary loose barrels should be replaced, as they end up tossed in the lake. Thanks.
