That's sad - can they be re-planted and cared for?

This issue was already reported here. Has anyone tried calling the developer of the building (which is leased, but not owned by the Hospital I believe) to see if they know why the trees are dead? http://www.seeclickfix.com/issues/43598

Jeffery100York - you may want to learn how the site is moderated before taking it on yourself to try to close or redirect so many different issues reported here. I know you've tried to close many I'm working on. Just please go slowly and err on the side of letting issues work themselves out... it will make everyone happier! Sometimes the resolution takes more time. Thank you.

This development is over a year old so Ben's theory of "one year of tree watering requirements" is all dried up!

Pfizer owns this site, known as 1 Howe Street. Perhaps someone could reach out to City Plan staff and ask them to follow up on this matter. Even better, call Parks because these are "street trees"..... so the City may have jurisdiction and the authority to simply replant in the fall.

Lastly, there was a clear intent to have trees so there should be little to no resistence from Pfizer to replant the trees in the fall.

Perhaps we could organize an event in the fall and do a SCF community event to plant at several locations?

I would definitely help with that.

The trees died because they weren't being watered. It does us no good to plant new trees if they will continue to lack care.

I would gladly go out and help replant and I think the owner and/or current occupants (I don't think it is Pfizer) should pay for the trees and agree to have their grounds keeper care for them.

Kevin is right, this is not Pfizer, it is part of the YNHH Cancer Center. It was developed on city land, so it is governed by a Land Disposition Agreement (LDA). Typically, the LDA plan details sidewalk and landscape design. It's great to volunteer time here, but I think the developer is probably obligated to plant and maintain trees according to the approved plan. Could the city or Board of Aldermen (who approved the LDA) check this?

I contacted Jackie Blake at YNHH-Goverment Relations Office and asked her to please address this issue.

Thank you Jackie James! It would be great if YNHH would post a note here once they have a plan for how to replant. They might contact Urban Resource Initiative to evaluate why the trees died (Were they the wrong species for the site? Or was it a maintenance issue only?). URI's advice might help ensure that their second attempt to plant will succeed.

Thanks. Its an empty lot!

This is not an empty lot -- it is the site of the Cancer Center Annex -- the glass building covered in different shades of yellow in a checkerboard pattern. See the photo posted at the beginning of this comment chain. It clearly shows the building and the dead trees in front of it.

That issue was forwarded to YNHH. The empty lot is in regards to another complaint filed on that day.
