Description

Oakhurst Park Tennis Courts: I've called Glenlake Tennis Ctr regarding the condition of the tennis courts and was told that this is a city parks and recreation issue. The courts are in very bad condition with weeds growing in he cracks and piles of debris in the far corner, knee high. The tennis center hosts multiple ALTA & USTA tennis team events every weekend. The fee for the home matches ( w/o practice time) is $100 each home hosted set is matches. For that price we are promised courts in playable condition and cleared of debris. One set of lights is not working, another is blocked by overhanging, unpruned tree limbs. The trash & recycling is over flowing most weekends. As a city of Decatur resident since 1993, I know that just my yearly taxes alone would resurface the courts. If there is something more that can be done to correct the situation, please advise. I personally today pulled weeds, blew the courts, and emptied trash receptacles in the preparation for our Sunday matches. Prompt attention to this situation is appreciated. The next stop will be our city councilman.
