This is Karen Sheppard with Animal Services. We will come and investigate, but raccoons and other normally nocturnal wildlife can be spotted during the day especially during summer with it being ‘baby season!’ Usually if the raccoon is acting sick - circling, standing still, uncoordinated -it’s a virus called distemper not Rabies that they have developed. Rabies does happen in northern Alabama, but it is extremely, extremely rare for many reasons. Please let your home owners association know to look for more than just visible during the day, but for clinical signs as described above. Thanks Karen Sheppard karen.sheppard@huntsvilleal.gov
