They spend all day circling like vultures to tow illegally parked cars during street sweeping but when it comes time for lunch at Nicas, every one of them is parked illegally. This one in a handicap spot, all the others at the bus stop on the corner. Who’s gonna tow them

This has been an ongoing issue for years. If anything, what you posted is far too benign.
The trucks FLY though the neighborhoods, including speeding in the opposite direction on One-Way streets.
Yesterday I was at the stop light at State & Mechanic. I had the green. 2 tow trucks blew through the red on State. I cut off the 3rd one, he wasn't pleased. But I had the green and a tow truck with no lights on is not an emergency vehicle. Also I have to get to work to pay my exorbitant taxes.
Clearly this is an orchestrated money grab between the city and the towing companies. As with the recent 11% tax increase, the city doesn't actually care about the the residents of New Haven beyond what they can be shaken down for financially.

However, Department of Transportation, Traffic, and Parking, if the guys who work in these jobs could be retrained to *not* act/park their vehicles like they don't give a [redacted] for our well-being, that'd be nice. If they actually ticketed CIVILIANS who were so reckless in their parking habits on Orange St. and environs, that'd be even better. I would freaking bake cookies for the cop who ticketed EVERY PERSON who parked in a bus zone and/or No Standing on Orange Street and side streets in a 24 hour period.
