The response is that there has been a traffic report done on this intersection, and that everything is working as it should.

The lights work just fine, they just need to have green arrows and proper timing on ALL four sides so that people who are turning left have time to turn instead of getting stuck in the middle of the intersection when the lights change while people go flying down Whalley or Ella Grasso at 50 MPH.

And while there have been no fatal car accidents here, there have been a few pedestrians killed at this intersection.

This intersection is a problem for every person who has to drive through it or walk through it, as well as the people who live here. The alders have been contacted numerous times about it, nothing gets done.

The screeching of tires is nerve wracking, waiting to hear breaking glass and crashing metal, it wears one down, almost like PTSD.

Video camera needed here. I don't understand why the New Haven Police Dept is so resistant to this proven method of traffic crime detection. Drivers are running the lights here, like everywhere, and there's no police patrol. It's like the Wild West on all our streets, and some of us are exhausted from constantly bringing this up, to the deaf ears of the NHPD.

Now a fatal hit and run at Ellsworth and Whalley. How many people need to die before the city does something to calm traffic around here?

Have to use this intersection daily to make a left hand from ETGrasso Blvd. onto Whalley Avenue. It's taking one's life in one's hands to do it. Why are there lights and turn signals at almost every intersection in the Yale U area, and ONE can't be installed here for far more citizens?

Again, the Alderperson, Jill Marks, is absent, and does not respond to any email or phone call. And there is simply no police patrol on the streets. It's totally lawless. When the Alder doesn't care, and the chief of police doesn't care, who do you turn to? Note to XYZ: You need to stop advising to contact your alderperson, at least in this area. It's useless.

Try calling the police district manager and Doug at Transportation and Parking.

XYZ: call Doug?!?! now I know ou are joking. Doug is already over his head. SCF was created to adddress the issue that the 'old' methods for handling problems DO NOT WORK. So please, stop asking us to use old methods.
