Please understand this is not just about an eyesore. People have been offered housing. There are no bathrooms which is a health hazard both for them and for the rest of the community.

I support this. This isn't habitable for the individuals and it causes issues from residential safety to neighborhood cohesiveness. I contacted St. Stephen's Outreach and they weren't able to help much. Someone from Hennepin County should coordinate with the shelters like Higher Ground or Salvation Army to offer these people beds. If they chose to camp outside as some homeless people do, they should be offered transportation to a more suitable place away from city neighborhoods.

Thank you John. St. Stephen's is a wonderful organization but they are not the answer to everything that has to do with homeless people.

Witnessed a middle-aged white male with long brown hair at the encampment shooting up this morning while I was on my way to work. Was at a good angle to see it coming from the west on 16th, he was trying to be discreet behind the sculpture. Could see the needle in his hand, small white needle. First time I’ve seen blatant drug use there since the encampment started. I did report it to 311 and they connected me to dispatch, but did not stick around. I probably should have called 911 because I was on hold with 311 for 10 mins. I wouldn’t have called 911 just for people hanging around there of course, only because I saw a man taking drugs intravenously. I hope something can be done to clean up this corner, an important gateway between Stevens Square and downtown, soon.

They are usually out early in the morning before taking off. I have seen many different people. On my way to work they often shout at me as I pass them (and I have to cross the bridge, no other way to go). I have seen them drinking, throwing trash and shooting up. This very suddenly happened within the last month or so and it's a growing issue. This spot was not made for camping and just because someone doesn't want to deal with this doesn't mean we're against homeless people, that's ridiculous. This is unsanitary and unsafe.

It seems the only thing we can do is continue to report, continue to contact Abdi Warsawi, and Lisa Goodman and the mayor's office.
It is totally out of control and none of us can figure out why nothing is being done. It continues to be unsafe both the people who are staying there and for the neighborhood. Unsafe unsanitary. The weather is getting worse. How can this be okay?

This issue continues and now all the bikes and tents are back.
