I’ve noticed this as well. Cars going west down Granite totally fly! A stop sign could be beneficial at the corner near where the storage containers are.

They fly from both directions!! From the dog park all the around the bend and to the playground. I’m waiting for a car to flip over going around that bend.

Malden Police Traffic enforcement officers will monitor the area when possible. I will also look into the signage in the area.

It's a city-wide problem. MPD needs to make more stops and write more tickets. It's just that simple. We cannot continue to write between 1/4 and 1/2 of the number of citations issued by similarly sized neighboring towns and expect motorists' behavior to change. This is not the fault of individual officers, the traffic enforcement division, or even the division's head. It is a question of priorities been set further up the chain of command (as noted repeatedly by the city's own auditors). We also need a city-wide 25 mph speed limit, with limited exceptions, as well as additional crosswalks and traffic calming infrastructure.

Malden PD will continue to monitor this area intermittently. As far as signage goes, there are 3 "Slow" children playing signs on the stretch that goes around the dog park and baseball field. The city has also recently voted to create a 25 MPH speed limit city wide "unless otherwise posted". The motoring public should be well aware (as it is required to obtain a permit and drivers license) that the max speed limit on thickly settled areas is 30MPH anyway. Drivers should also be aware that speeding past and around parks, playgrounds and baseball fields is even more unacceptable than most other roads and if those landmarks themselves do not slow drivers down then I doubt an additional "slow down" sign would do it.
