Curious to why this post has not received an acknowledgement from the city. I would think it should have been assigned to police by now!?

I agree with Steve that pit bulls are good dogs when trained (true for any dog breed). ANY owner who lets ANY dog roam free is irresponsible - we do not like encountering loose dogs when we walk our dog. It is never a good situation when one dog is on a leash and another is loose. This is true even if the owner is present in the yard with the dog. They often think they have verbal control over their dog, but often the appeal of another dog is greater than the desire to please the owner who yells in vain for their dog to come or stay. Not properly constraining a pet is a bigger problem than a particular breed. I am not in favor of ordinances that ban specific breeds - such bans have changed with different breeds over the years. First it was dobermans, then Rottweilers, now pit bulls. There are so many variations of breeds that it is difficult to determine whether or not a particular dog is a pit. The owners should be cited for not properly caring for and constraining their dog.
Since Ferguson has no animal control unit, where does one appropriately turn for assistance in these matters?

I'm a cat person, so I have no opinion one way or the other about breed specific legislation. However, the ordinance presently prohibits pit bulls. If you don't agree with that, lobby council to change it.
