Thanks for reporting! This issue is not under the jurisdiction of the City of Vallejo and should be addressed by California Northern Railroad. We have forwarded your issue to them for handling. You may follow up with them by contacting their general manager, Jake Harrison, at jdharrison@gwrr.com. Thanks again for using SeeClickFix!
UPDATE: This area is actually owned by the City of Vallejo; Public Works Grounds Crew picked up the trash today and the encampments are scheduled to be cleaned up next week.
Is this a case of the left hand don't know what the right hand is doing? Please advise, is this a city problem or a railroad problem? If it is a railroad problem why is the City cleaning it up? If it is a City problem, why is Code Enforcement telling me to contact California Northern Railroad?
Since the article in the Times Herald a couple weeks ago, the City of Vallejo does appear to be taking this issue seriously. We heard VPD down there with a megaphone clearing folks out about a week ago, and a neighbor tells us that on Tuesday they were doing a first pass per the note from Code Enforcement above. Looking forward to seeing the encampments cleared out for good and a permanent solution coming to fruition. Thanks, Code Enforcement Division!
