Thanks to whoever reported this. 100% - the EDD is a constant source of obvious drug-related loitering, but no action is taken. They hang there because they can serve the customers at Okbah Grocery Shop (across the street). The EDD's ineffective security guard seems to actually be friendly with many of the problematic homeless people and dope dealers.

Everyday after the Unemployment closes these homeless people and there drug dealing friends and prostitutes show up and start doing there illicit business all night.
The EDD office is doing nothing about abating this issue. The so called security guard is in on what's going on and does nothing to get rid of these thugs from the around the building.
Property owners who live in the houses surrounding this office and who pay property taxes should not be subject to living like this.

WHAT??? Smack in the heart of Vallejo and it's not the VPD's responsibility at all? Is it illegal for VPD to enter the property? Would the CHP arrest one of our City's officers? Sounds like a "cop out" to me....

This is what is says to do verbatim:

"Reports involving criminal acts, narcotics trafficking, City/County/Vehicle Code violations etc. should be reported directly to your local law enforcement agency for prompt investigative action."

A citizen can then proceed to file their concerns.

As previously stated, this is not occurring on city-owned property and therefore NOT under the jurisdiction of the City of Vallejo. Please refer to our previous comment re: the CHP.

So I can go there and pretty much do whatever I want, vandalize, deal drugs, prostitute women or men, threaten neighbors - unless the CHP catches me. I guess it’s a free for all. Defiantly a cop out by our Government.

Same logic would say that if a crime happens on my property, it’s not city-owned either, and therefore the police are not required to respond?

We concur wholeheartedly, Artsem. The idea that the City of Vallejo views the EDD as "not our problem" feels like a total cop out. At the very least, shouldn't the City be listening to reports on this matter from the community and reaching out to CHP directly to ensure progress is made? Putting the burden on citizens to deal with this ourselves is disappointing. What exactly are we paying our taxes for?

Another concern is panhandling and harassment of Nations customers in the parking lot of the restaurant. There is also encampments from time to time with aggressive bums in the ally next to Nations.

That's because there is a "squatter's" nest in the building right next door. It has been reported countless times. It supposedly this is in the hand of Code Enforcement, but no apparent progress. Par for the course.

Which building is the one with the squatters, Artsem? Is it along Tennessee between the EDD and Nations, or elsewhere?

312 & 408 Tennessee St. are the reported addresses. You cannot view the issues as they have been archived, and I don't have any eTRAKiT case numbers for you. Try calling Code Enforcement to see what the status is.

Oh, so you're talking about properties that are across the street. 408 Tennessee had a bad squatter problem a year and a half ago or so, but Code Enforcement / VPD shut it down, and neighbors nearby haven't noticed many problems there since. There was also a man ("Bo") living illegally in a unit on the backside of 312 Tennessee for some time, but he too has moved on as of a couple weeks back.

Good to see some issues resolved. It was a few weeks ago that I was seeing them reported, but some reports were from them entering a building though the alley.
Anyhow, it's the EDD office here and now that needs to be addressed.

It's worth noting that this isn't only an issue after they close for the weekend. There's an insane amount of street activity on the sidewalks outside during business hours too. Perhaps the CHP could start by investigating the dreadlocked man, "Mike," who stands around the property engaging in suspicious activity and attracting other bad actors literally every day.

Does the moderator here on SeeClickFix have a political agenda or an interest in protecting someone? Our 7/20 posted that was "blocked by rejections" includes valuable public safety context that anyone viewing this thread should be aware of. This censorship is making our community less safe.
