I, too, have had a memorable near-collision with a multi-ton vehicle traveling westbound, turning northbound at this intersection. And alas, that incident at this very intersection lead to my giving up on bicycling to and from work along Colchester Ave. Crossbike/extension lines would certainly help work to change automobile culture and perhaps more drivers could be induced to reflexively look before turning.
