Description
Forest Ave between Claremont and College aves has been patched repeatedly. The roadbed is in horrible shape and is a major thoroughfare. It is a hazard for bikers, pedestrians, and drivers. No more patches!! Repave the entire stretch!!

I see College, 51st, and Shafter on the upcoming list, and upper Broadway and Broadway Terrace have already been resurfaced. Much of Claremont, Golden Gate, Pleasant Valley, Colby, and Chabot were also resurfaced within the past few years. There are additional streets getting resurfaced that aren’t on the 5-year plan, like Clarewood, and some spot paving and concrete work happening in association with new developments and utility projects.
There’s plenty more repair needed, for sure, but let’s not pretend that Rockridge isn’t getting their fair share of attention, and then some.
If there are streets not on the five year paving plan (which goes through 2019, after which a new five year plan will be assembled) then I recommend that people contact their city council member or staff about it. Every council member gets to program a certain amount of paving funds each year for streets not on the 5-year plan, based on what they’re hearing from constituents.

It does appear to me that Forest is listed as medium condition in the street condition view, so not too bad.

For sure, there is plenty of reason to be frustrated. I’ve been reporting Forest to both Oakland and to Caltrans (they’re responsible for the part under the freeway) for at least 5 years, and have gotten several dozen potholes filled within that period.
I see funding from Measures KK, BB, and SB1 as our means for finally dealing with these issues, but we still have to be patient as bringing the overall pavement quality back up to a manageable level is a slow and steady process (let’s not stop petitioning for streets like Forest to get fully repaired though).
