Description
I was just going to report this as a pavement issue, but I happened to catch someone making an illegal turn during a pedestrian crossing phase at the same time.
The pavement marking issue is that it's unclear whether there is one travel lane or two on eastbound Brattle at the intersection with Fresh Pond Parkway. The parking zone on the south side of Brattle ends about 30 feet before the stop line, and the remaining length of the lane is marked as a "No stopping tow away zone". It would be helpful if there were directional arrows on the pavement indicating whether that is a turn lane or if all travel goes through one lane there.
While taking that picture, I happened to catch a gray Ford sedan (MA plates 3KP328) make an illegal turn during the exclusive pedestrian interval. I will attach the other photos in the series demonstrating this as comments below.

We will install additional pavement markings to clarify the lane use on the eastbound Brattle Street approach.
Right turns on red are currently legal at that location and the signal is owned and operated by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). Unfortunately, the City is not responsible for addressing issues on state property, but we've shared this request with DCR and asked them to address. Please contact DCR Community Relations at 617-626-4973 for direct follow-up about this.
Thank you for your report.
