Recently there have been several near accidents as drivers are turning from West Bound Drake Ave onto Patton Rd North at the intersection. This is one of the few turns in Huntsville that have an actual merge lane associated with it. Unfortunately some people begin their turn and then abruptly stop for traffic and by doing so causing vehicles behind them to slam on their brakes to avoid an accident. I witnessed two instances last week alone of this very situation. Others don’t even attempt to use the merge lane and just merge directly onto Patton in front of the oncoming traffic. Would request that the city install a small section of the white boundary sticks similar to those used at Airport Rd and the NB Parkway access lanes. Similar to those shown in the picture.
