Also really makes you wonder how many of these issues they just ignored and fraudulently closed for all the years people were using this site before I started posting these reminders. I wouldn't be surprised if more than half of the closed issues our corrupt mayor took credit for where never actually addressed and probably still sitting there rotting to this day

We had two of these in the Dimond Dist. We finally had to have them removed and replaced with a regular trash cans. We still have an issue with not getting regular pick ups but its better than the broken, dirty and overflowing big belly compactors. What worse than the fake closing is that they archived the issue and you cannot reopen them.

Thanks for your reply and comment. I'm assuming that is what OPW will to do with these. Just remove them. It's been months(since fall 2017) and they don't get emptied. Trash is spilling out, the cans are really filthy. On the side of one can is the name of JeanQuan.org, Shaff's predecessor but the site is gone. I will check the cans of Friday but I will be surprised if they are emptied.

Please also contact the PWD call center 615-5566 or 311 to complain. A lot gets done on this site but a lot referrals slip though the cracks or are never referred at all.

Oakland seems to have a very large number of employees but very few workers. Keep calling it takes awhile to find one with a pulse and a work ethic.

Hey, David Coleman. I see the teens in bright shirts walking down Foothill Blvd. with brooms and trash bags, supposedly cleaning the streets for summer cash but most of the time they are fooling around, listening to their phones, talking with each other and leaving the trash in the streets. The citizens of Fruitvale/Foothill could care about the litter in the streets. In fact, most of them toss the litter in the streets themselves. When Gallo has his Saturday clean-ups(which I think he suspended), less than 10 people show up to help.

I live in the Dimond Dist I am part of the Keep Dimond Clean volunteers we pick up litter in the business dist on Weds and Saturdays and we have a volunteer crew pick up Dimond park on Mondays. We also pay to have the business dist picked up 5 days a week though donations. All our supplies come the City of Oakland Keep Oakland Clean and Beautiful program. We also keep the Caltrans park and ride clean along with parts of the on and off ramps. This the only way we care keep our neighborhood it clean. This Dimond volunteer group has been active for more than thirty years.
