I agree with some 24/7 parking for residents but how can the city design a system that simultaneously allows people from out of the area to park and use the amenities along Lark Street. We don't want to starve the businesses that are also part of our community.

I have yet to see any evidence that parking problems at night are significantly increased by people from outside the neighborhood. There are simply not enough spaces on the street for all the residents' cars. 24/7 enforcement would only be a hassle for businesses and residents who have guests.

I continue to see vehicles not moving, perhaps we are to assume parking rules are no longer in effect? If this is the case, please let me know.

The Parking Authority is the latest in a series of City Departments to throw in the towel on the current leadership. The murder rate is at an all time high. Life in Albany is going to suck until we have new leadership.

Residents should have a spot to park in. Parking tickets are a huge business in Albany, but they pick and choose. Yoga, you would appear to be correct. Between police not policing, selective enforcement on parking, and so on, it seems enough is enough from those running the show.

If there's any truth that city departments, and their staff, choose not to do their jobs well based on who is in office, none of them should be in their positions to begin with. Their salaries are paid by tax payers. That is who they work for. Departments have a job to do and if they don't do it, that is solely on the individuals involved. No leadership should have to babysit city staff to do their jobs. There are too many competing priorities. The issues in this city are about far more than the "leadership." Citizens have to do our jobs as well, starting from being civil to each other, to parking our vehicles legally, throwing our own trash in the bin, maintaning our residences and property, picking up after our own dogsand not letting them relieve themselves on plants and flowers, turning down our own car stereos and not otherwise disturbing the peace, and not hurting or killing each other. See the difference in the city then and it won't matter who is in office.

Anonymous, It is a good point that city employees and residents also have a responsibility. But unless there is accountability then those who do not care will continue to not care. But I don't think the problem is people not doing their part because they don't like who the mayor is. It seems this is the policy. An unwritten one, no doubt. But when a mayor defends a lot of what goes on in Albany then they are not being accountable or holding anyone else accountable.
So many things reported on this site are ongoing issues that should have been seen by people in the city and corrected without having to be reported weeks and months later. In some cases I think it is silent budget cuts. Snow plowing on my end has been a joke the last few years. People move their cars like they should (in most cases) and often the plows do not come. Then you park on big chunks of ice as it melts and freezes. It takes warmer weather to clear crosswalks... Just as an example. I don't know what the answer is. But people at the top denying there is a problem pretty much ensures there will not be a solution any time soon.
