Description
Cross walk connecting Salem pedestrian bath to the Marblehead path remains a safety hazard to people crossing 114. The city has installed flashing warning lights but unfortunately vehicles are ignoring them while people await to cross. Not sure what else can be done but its just a matter of time before someone is hit. Would a warning sign noting an upcoming crosswalk and a traffic light with blinking green light that would turn yellow then red be a better option? Thanks

3 months later still waiting for the mayors office to address this. Unfortunately it will probably take an accident or a death before its fixed. The last years installation of a crosswalk with pedestrian initiated blinking lights is routinely ignored by vehicular traffic, especially coming from Marblehead. What maybe needed is a traffic light such as they have on Lafayette St that blinks green then turns yellow than red when a pedestrian request passage. Also more visible signage would help. This truly is a very dangerous crosswalk due to the amount of vehicles and their speed.
