Description
One of the greatest dangers for bicyclists, and one of the greatest impediments to expanding access to new bicyclists, is the small but important subset of angry motorists who don't think cyclists should be on the road.
Given this problem, the city's decision to require cyclists to use the car lane the Indian School crossing of Carlisle, rather than the adjacent bicycle lane, seems problematic. (see case #180529-000166 herein for details - https://seeclickfix.com/issues/4598608-westbound-vehicle-a-bicycle-still-not-getting-green-light). But if that's the only way for cyclists to get a green light at this intersection, we need a green "bike box" painted on the pavement so a) cyclists know that's where they need to be to trigger the light, and b) so motorists will understand that bikes are *supposed* to be out in the car lane rather than over by the edge of the road in what is currently called a "bike lane".

"The intersection that is in question is currently in the study period of analyzing the effects of a road diet throughout the corridor. Changes in the bicycle infrastructure (striping, detection, signage, etc.) will be looked at and open to public comment once the design portion begins. The project is currently headed by City Council and questions related to this can be clarified by them."
