Firstly, thank you for the kind words about the overall Lincoln Street project. It's been a challenging project from an engineering perspective and the residents have born it exceptionally well. You are correct, that smaller guardrail was not there previously. It became necessary to install that when we realigned the intersection at Lincoln where it meets Lakeside Avenue. The new sidewalk at that intersection is actually sunken about six inches below the top of the new curbing. Because there is a parking lot immediately adjacent to that new sidewalk, a guardrail became necessary. if a car were to back up too much, it would get stuck on the sidewalk because of the new drop. There are many unforeseen challenges that can arise during a project and the need for remediation can often result in minor visual changes.
