Please don't make it any deeper. Due to erosion, it is already dangerous for anyone to try and cut down saplings and weeds growing behind fence lines. It has been this way for years and gets worse every year.

I've never even been in the ditch so there is absolutely no reason for me to make it any bigger. It is behind my chain link fence. However, due to non-maintenance, the over growth is attracting raccoons, possum, and armadillos, which are digging very big holes in my yard, and trying to burrow beneath my concrete walkway at the back of my house. These animals are huge. I've tried several times to get pictures but they go back over the fence and into the ditch before I'm able. I simply wish the ditch would be maintained on a regular basis.

This ditch is constantly overgrown, clogged etc.
The city needs to put it on a REGULAR maintenence schedule so we don't have to call and remind them every month.

I agree, Randy. This is the second time I've had to connect then. When they did come out, they didn't do a very good job.

I agree Johnna, the city neglects existing neighborhoods because they are too busy focusing on new development. Sad. I am going to contact our representative Jennie Robinson this week about the matter and it would be great if you would too. Squeeeky wheel gets the grease!

You're exactly right. I listened to a presentation by Mrs. Robinson not too long ago and, as you said, she was speaking on new development. Seems the City has let a lot go...like the ditch that runs behind Mahogany Row, and the neighborhood itself. Ever since the City moved that project over there, it has turned into a ghetto. I remember how nice that area had always been until the past few years. I grew up in Jones Valley and moved back just recently (I'm 54 now), in January when i bought the house across the street from the one I grew up in, and I was shocked when I drove down Mahogany Row...there was old furniture (sofas and chairs), bags of trash, and who knows what else was in that ditch. The road was lined with old cars. I was truly shocked!

Mahogany Row is Section 8 housing. Horrible.

So the City of Huntsville considers spraying weed killer on the 5'+ tall weeds and 10'-15' tall trees, vines, etc., a viable solution to and maintenance of the ditch behind my home?!! I will take pictures and take this up with the Mayor directly! What a pathetic attempt at "a job well done"!! Not even close!

Why block the truth I just told about this on-going issue???
