Description
A month or so ago an LED fixture was installed on the pole in our neighbors back yard. I realize the switch to LED was a city wide initiative with Duke, and appreciate a well lit alley, however, this light is NOT in an alley. It is smack dab in the middle of our neighbors back yard, so all it is doing is lighting up his yard, not the alley. The light glows bright enough to illuminate our bedrooms (including that of our two year old) as if it was midday all night long. Can someone please come and tone this thing down!?

I'm glad we are not the only ones in the immediate vicinity having an issue with this light. The trees that used to be in the yard did a great job of blocking the old light. However, when the trees were removed and Duke decided it was a good idea to install a solar beam in place of perfectly functioning light, this became an issue. I would be happy to see the old light bulb back, if the light must be there. I'm glad the city acknowledge this is an ongoing issue, but since they are so willing to pawn the matter off on Duke, I have elected to contact Duke directly on a regular basis and see if this gets me anywhere. I am currently awaiting response regarding my most recent service request, so I'll be hopeful and assume this means they are actively working to help us out.
Sarah - would you be willing to put a service request/complaint in with Duke? Thinking if we keep this matter relevant we may have a better chance of getting it resolved. Here is the link if you are willing/interested - https://www.duke-energy.com/customer-service/request-light-repair
Thank you all for your feedback, its nice to know I'm not alone.

Update from City's Engineering Department staff: We followed up with Duke Energy and noted the following:
Duke Energy confirmed the resident located at 245 24th St. N requested the new 4K LED light on (pole# B106720) for his back yard. This light is not located in City ROW. It is our understanding, that this light was installed in April, 2018 and Duke Energy did not have 3K LED lights available at the time.
One possible solution is for the resident to contact Duke and ask if he can request from them that the 4K LED light be replaced with 3K LED. The City cannot make the request to Duke, as the account for that light is the resident's.

The City of St Petersburg periodically reviews old SeeClickFix reports in an effort to clean-up past issues that were resolved some time ago. We are now marking as 'closed' those issues that were submitted in the past for which the work has been completed or the issue has otherwise been resolved.
If you think for any reason that the issue you submitted in the past might still be unresolved, please feel free to submit a new report with the SeeClickFix St. Pete website or mobile app and we will make sure the issue is directed to the appropriate City department to be addressed as soon as possible.
