Thank you for reporting your issue/request to the Howard County Department of Public Works. Village Crest is not under Howard County's jurisdiction, it is a private road. The issue is that the COUNTY placed a detour sign so that it impedes visibility. The COUNTY required a construction fence which has been placed so that it impedes visibility. The COUNTY has determined that this PRIVATE road will be the official detour for Old Ellicoot City resulting in an increase in traffic and in an increase in speeders and commercial vehicles which the COUNTY will not address on this private road. Thus, the COUNTY will be morally responsible for any accidents and resultant losses that occur. Great response, COUNTY.
