Description

The homeowner at 1040 Riceland Court, Roswell, GA 30075 has been burning debris in an open over sized metal barrel (much larger than a 55-gal. drum) during late afternoons, nights, and weekends, violating City Ordinance Section 8.7.3, which only permits open burning in a 55 gallon drum at construction sites for warmth, provided that the outside temperature is fifty (50) degrees Fahrenheit or less and the fire does not produce dense smoke or obnoxious odors. The burning of the debris by this homeowner is resulting in heavy smoke that drifts into the backyards of several homeowners in the Charleston Pointe subdivision making it very hard to breathe especially when it enters our homes. The Charleston Pointe subdivision is located directly south of the Creekside subdivision off of Lake Charles Drive. Attached is picture of the barrel used to burn the debris by the homeowner. These violations have also been reported to the Roswell Fire and Police Departments, but has not resulted in any Notice of Violations being issued to encourage the homeowner from continuing these actions. I will send more pictures of the actual smoke and burning the next time it happens, but would appreciate action being taken by the city.
