Description
I reviewed Cambridge's sidewalk rehab plan with Liza Paden, and we both noticed that Chetwynd Road is not on the list and never has been. Our sidewalks are one or more of these things: nonexistent, dangerous, cracked, weedy, ugly. These are words that do not match the philosophy of our fair city. Does not this street deserve the same care as other streets? Many thanks for your attention. (P.S. The road is also a hot mess.)

Thank you for reporting your concerns about the sidewalk condition.
As you can imagine, the City has more need for infrastructure improvements than available resources. The City has a Five Year Street and Sidewalk Plan to prioritize improvements, available at www.cambridgema.gov/theworks/fiveyearplan to ensure that projects are coordinated and the highest priority locations are addressed.
The plan is updated annually and is based on the City’s utility projects, pavement management system, sidewalk condition assessment, coordination with utility companies, priorities from the Disabilities Commission, Bicycle Committee and Pedestrian Committee, and requests from residents to prioritize locations. We update the 5 Year Plan annually to make sure we are accurately prioritizing streets for inclusion.
While the City cannot guarantee that the reconstruction of this specific area will be able to be funded, we will evaluate it closely and consider your concerns as part of that process.
Please feel free to contact Kate Riley, Community Relations Manager, at kriley@cambridgema.gov if you have questions or would like more information on the Five Year Plan.
